Navesink Psychological Services is thrilled to welcome back Dr. Ashleigh Young, a New Jersey licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist, to our Evaluation team.
Dr. Young brings a wealth of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families across public, independent, and international school settings, most recently at Singapore American School. Her career has also included work in hospitals and private practice, giving her a uniquely broad perspective on how children learn, think, and thrive across different environments and cultures.
A Specialist in Dyslexia, Learning Differences, and ADHD
Dr. Young's areas of deep expertise include comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for neurodivergent learners, with particular strength in identifying dyslexia and other specific learning disabilities, as well as ADHD. She also evaluates executive functioning differences, autism, and a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Her evaluations integrate cognitive, academic, behavioral, and emotional data to build a complete picture of each child, one that goes far beyond a single test score or diagnosis.
Assessment as a Pathway, Not a Label
For Dr. Young, comprehensive, strengths-based assessment is about more than identification. She believes evaluation should be a pathway to understanding, self-advocacy, and access to the supports and opportunities every child needs to reach their potential and lead full, meaningful lives.
She also has extensive experience assessing children's and adolescents' emotional and mental health functioning, including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, trauma-related concerns, and school-based mental health needs, ensuring that families receive a truly holistic understanding of their child's profile.
Turning Results into Real-World Support
Dr. Young is committed to making evaluation results accessible, meaningful, and actionable. She works closely with caregivers, educators, and service providers to translate findings into practical recommendations that build on a child's strengths and reduce barriers to learning and participation.
With extensive knowledge of New Jersey special education regulations and eligibility criteria, Dr. Young partners with families to help them understand their child's educational profile and confidently advocate for the services and supports that foster growth and well-being.
